Colosseum PhotoVoice Program for Migrant Workers in China, 2017

PhotoVoice WE DON’T NEED BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS, JUST REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCES! Expression takes many forms but one of the most moving, and perhaps most powerful, ways to convey your feelings is through photography and simple captions. After all, actions often speak louder than words! PhotoVoice is all about using photography as a tool for expressing emotions, engaging with children and creating lasting memories to share. In January 2017, CCR CSR implemented a PhotoVoice program for Colosseum’s supplier C&C. Over ten workers were trained in photography and were given a camera to take home over the Chinese New Year. The mission: to capture precious moments with their families and to construct stories around each image. The final PhotoVoice exhibition was comprised of workers’ favourite photos and their stories. From these photos, we can see the nostalgia they feel towards their hometowns, their gratitude towards family members and their love towards their children. Each C&C worker was cordially invited to browse participants’ work and to vote for their favourite photo story. The winners were announced and rewarded during a closing ceremony on April 12, 2017.
