noise," says Jennifer. "Our ultimate goal
[for the nursery] was to create a space
that reflects peace and serenity."
Robbin, a Certified Interior Decorator
with an affinity for family-friendly design,
feels that the nursery project was a true
collaboration. "My client knew that she
would be spending a lot of time in the
nursery and really wanted to love being
in the space too. She wanted it to feel
cozy and serene."
Upon entering the nursery, a tepee-
style reading fort serves as a focal
point. The apex of the fort draws the
eye up to a dainty geometric mobile
and a collection of nature-inspired
wall art. In keeping with the outdoorsy
theme, furniture with visible wood
grain, a honeycomb light fixture, and a
cluster of animal figurines make up the
landscape of the nursery. Though the
rustically-inspired theme of the room is
discernible, the muted color palette was
intended to be ambiguous.
"When we began the process, the
baby's gender was not known," reveals
Robbin. "So we chose a very soft and
serene color palette that would lend
itself to a wide range of accent colors
when the gender was eventually
revealed."
Gender neutral or not, the color
choice was a practical choice. "Choosing
a neutral as your main color gives you
the flexibility to change up your accent
colors," says Robbin. "This is especially
important in a children’s space so that, as
your child grows, you won’t necessarily
have to completely start from scratch."
