Resident Spotlight
Chris Woodrum
Chris Woodrum was born May 7,
1976, to Roy and Ann Woodrum in
Richland, Missouri. Chris was the baby
in the family, having two brothers and
one sister. When he was four years old,
his family moved to Lebanon and that is
where he grew up and lived his life.
When he was in eighth grade, playing
in the Jazz Band, his friend started
calling him “Woody” and the name has
struck. So if you see Chris out and about
start calling him by his nickname.
Chris graduated from Lebanon High
School in 1994. When he was a senior
he received the Louis Armstrong Jazz
award. He loved music and playing his
trumpet. “I really wanted to play the
saxophone, but then again so did 18
other kids, so my teacher asked me to
play the trumpet and I did,” said Chris.
“My love of music has never stopped.
On weekends my buddies and I would go
out to the bars and I would sing
Karaoke. I won first place once and
received $1000. It was quite an
accomplishment,” said Chris.
Chris never married but he
enjoys spending time with his nieces
and nephews when he is able to see
them.
Since graduation, Chris has
worked a variety of jobs ranging from
911 Dispatch to listening to prisoners
while they talked on the phone, to an
office supply salesman. “I am just a
good ole’ boy and basic guy, but boy I
could sell office supplies and furniture,”
said Chris.
Chris is an animal lover. He
currently has two dachshunds named
Layla and Ella. His first dachshund was
named Maggie Mae and she went to
work with him all of the time. She was
his best friend. Do any of his dogs
names have anything in common? Yep,
they are all named after musical songs.
Chris’ love of music has caused him
to travel to many concerts in St. Louis.
He has seen Ricky Scaggs, Tom Petty,
and Stevie Nicks.
Chris has been at Colonial Springs
since July 2019. He is an inspiration to
many and a very kind hearted guy. He
continues to sing Karaoke and
entertain the residents at least twice a
month. He is a positive influence with
our older generation as he will sit with
them for hours and talk about any subject
under the son.
Thank you Chris for your positive
attitude and spark of energy, except in
the mornings, that surrounds you.
