Golden Age Games
2019 marks the 24th year for the MHCA Golden Age Games, which will take place at the
SBU Meyer Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m.
This year we are “Going for Gold in the 60s.” We will be decked out in our tye-dyed t-shirts,
bell-bottom pants, and peace sign glasses as we drive our Volkswagen bus to Bolivar’s SBU
campus to win gold medals and have a “Groovy” time.
The Golden Age Games is a fun-filled day of special events. Residents from all over MHCA
District IV gather to compete for prizes and special awards. This year MHCA will be giving out
two $125 gift cards to the facility with the highest score and the team with the most spirit.
Colonial Springs has done well at the games these past few years and this year we hope to
bring home the Spirit Trophy.
If you would like to dress up and help cheer us on, contact Patrice or Lisa in the
activity department.
Candy Needed
Trick-or-Treat
Colonial Springs will be
open for business for all trick
or treaters, 12 and under,
from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on
Halloween night Thursday,
Oct. 31.
The residents will be
decked out in their own
Halloween costumes, and will
be ready to provide the
children with an abundant
supply of both tricks and
treats.
The residents really
enjoy watching the kids
parade through the facility in
their adorable, and some-
times scary costumes. Come
out and join in on the fun!

Week last month. They were delicious!

our Grandparents Day Bingo and Ice
Cream Party. Pictures above are Smokey
the Bear, Bill Brobisky, and his
great-grandchildren.
Each Halloween night for the
past several years, the
residents have enjoyed
passing out candy to the
children of Dallas County.
On Oct. 31, we plan on
doing the same thing, but in
order for this event to be
successful, we need the help
of our families and friends. We
are asking that each family
member donate a bag or two of
candy for your mother or father
to pass. Last year we had more
than 35 residents passing out
treats, and ran out before it
was over.
If you would like to help out,
bring your bagged candy to
Patrice Melton, activity
director. We really appreciate
your help!
