Mother ’ s Day Tea
“ A mother ’ s love goes far beyond the depths of any ocean .”
Mother ’ s are a very special part of our lives and their love for us is unconditional .
Since we are still restricted to how many visitors our mothers and grandmothers have at a time , we will be hosting our own special party for them .
We are hoping that by next Mother ’ s Day at this time , we will be completely open and we can go back to our old ways of celebrating special days .
So this year , we are going to celebrate with an ole ’ fashioned tea party on Friday , May 7 at 2 p . m .
We will honor our mothers with a special gift and shower them with lots of love .
Mother ’ s Day Flower Fundraiser
Hale Flowerworks will be helping us once again raise money for our resident ’ s activity fund .
Instead of coming to our facility , you can go to their shop , mention Colonial Springs , and they will donate a percentage of what you purchase to our residents .
They have so much to choose from at their shop including flowers , wind chimes , rain gauges , garden decorations , indoor decorations and much more .
Our fundraiser will begin Monday , May 3 and run through Sunday , May 9 during their regular business hours .
Don ’ t forget to mention us !
National Long Term Care Week National Nurses Week
This month we celebrate two very noteworthy events .
The first one is National Nurses Week . This is celebrated every year beginning May 6 and ends on May 12 , which is Florence Nightingale ' s birthday . Please thank the nurses for all the hard work and commitment they provide to our ladies and gentlemen .
The second event is National Long Term Care Week which begins on Mother ’ s Day , May 9 . This years theme is “ Together Through the Seasons .” Stay posted to our Facebook page for more information as we get closer to our special days .
Family Visits
It has been a long time since our doors have been open for visits with our residents , both family and friends . We are encouraging everyone to come visit any time of the day , seven days a week .
Even though our doors are open , there are several guidelines mandated by CMH that we must follow . These include a 15 minute rapid test prior to entering our facility , masking the entire time while you are here . If the resident has been vaccinated , you may visit in their room . If the resident has not been vaccinated , you must visit behind a Plexiglas window .
Please call ahead of time to schedule an appointment as we must register you in our system in order for you to visit your family member . You can ask for Patrice Melton or Jessica Rogers to schedule you appointment at 417-345-2228 .
We are so excited to be able to see our families again as I am sure you are as ecstatic as well .
Cinco de Mayo Day
On May 5 , 1862 , Mexico defeated the French troops led by Emperor Napoleon III at the Battle of Puebla , which later led to their independence . Cinco de Mayo is a celebration honoring this victory .
Across Mexico and the U . S ., food , parades , crafts , dancing and music mark this celebration .
At Colonial Springs , we won ’ t be as elaborate , but we will celebrate with some Mexican foods , crafts , music and dance . Watch your Chatter Box for special activities . We will be celebrating this special day throughout the first full week of May . Watch the calendar for a list of activities .
