Mail…
Mother’s Day Tea
Mail is very important to our ladies and
gentlemen. Several churches have adopted our
residents as part of a pen pal program to keep
spirits high during this trying time.
What used to take 10 minutes or less has
become at least a 45 minute to an hour room
visit program. And we love it!
With the upcoming holidays of Mother’s Day
and Father’s Day, we encourage you to send
your cards earlier than usual because due to
the virus, we have to hold the mail for 24 hours
once we receive it.
Keep the letters and cards coming. They
have helped us tremendously.
“A mother’s love goes far beyond the depths of any
ocean.”
Mother’s are a very special part of our lives and this
year is no different than others, except that we have one
thing standing in our way...and we all know what that is.
So we will be celebrating our Mother’s Day
celebration on Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. with a pie
social for all of our mothers.
If the isolation is lifted, our families will be invited to
attend and share this special memory with them.
We will keep everyone posted and update you when
we know anything different in our status. Please
continue to check Facebook for our updates.
National Skilled Nursing Care Week
“SHARING OUR WISDOM”
Each year, beginning on Mother’s Day and continuing throughout the week, a variety of special
activities are set aside to honor those who live and work in long term care facilities.
This year’s theme is “SHARING OUR WISDOM” Each facility is a small vibrant world within itself.
There is a special bond within the community of those who reside here, families and friends who visit
here, and staff and volunteers who devote numerous hours caring for those who live here.
We dedicate this week to all of you. We are honored to have you as part of the Colonial Springs
family.
We will be hosting a variety of activities geared towards our residents and the wisdom that they
provide to our community, family and friends. Each day we will have a different theme and relate it to
the wisdom that our elders can provide to the younger generation. These include religion, farmers and
farming, mothers, military and family.
Also, each day we will have a special dress up day for our residents and staff. These include favorite
hat day, super heroes day, sports day, Americana Day and pajama day.
Due to COVID-19 and the status at the time of our printing, activities may be limited and
restructured on a daily basis.
Cinco de Mayo Day
On May 5, 1862, Mexico defeated the French
troops led by Emperor Napoleon III at the Battle of
Puebla, which later led to their independence. Cinco
de Mayo is a celebration honoring this victory.
Across Mexico and the U.S., food, parades, crafts,
dancing and music mark this celebration.
At Colonial Springs, we won’t be as elaborate, but
we will celebrate with some Mexican foods, crafts,
music and dance. Watch your Chatter Box for special
activities. We will be celebrating this special day
throughout the first full week of May. Watch the
calendar for a list of activities.
