She was the oldest in her family, having two brothers. She grew up in Hollywood, then moved to San Fernado Valley. “They called us the Valley Girls,” says Cecilia. She went to Corvallis Catholic School until she was a junior. Her grandmother became ill so her family moved to Ventura and she graduated in 1958 from Ventura High School. Cecilia, or Ann, as she likes to be called, met John Hansen at a party. They were married four months later on April 19, 1969. The couple had two chil- dren, Ronnie and Susan. Ronnie has passed away and Susan lives in Arizona. Ann has five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. John and Ann were married for 20 wonderful years when he passed away from diabetes. While Ann was working as a secretary at Sully Miller Construction, she met Bill Bridges. She didn’t get along with him. “I didn’t do things his way, so we didn’t care for each other. One day my boss told me to go out to lunch with Bill so we could get better acquainted. We did. And we found out we had more in common than we thought. So we started to date a little while later. I quit my job to prevent the rumor mill from starting, and we got married in 1990,” said Ann. Ann and Bill owned a clothing store in Ventura called, “Fashion Gal.” Within a year, they felt the city moving closer to them so they moved to Plasterville in 1996, where Ann worked with a friend in her clothing store. This was where Bill developed his first bout of cancer. As Los Angeles seemed to be getting closer to them, they moved to Missouri, which was were Bill was from. The couple purchased a 40 acre farm in Louisburg and began raising cattle. “Bill would artificially in- seminate the cows and guess what my job was… I had to hold the tail. I hated that job,” said Ann. In 2008, Bill had some major health issues so they sold their cattle and retired from farming in 2009. During her retirement, she enjoyed reading, playing poker and talking with her grandchildren. “In 2016, I became very ill and came to Colonial Springs for rehab. I was in and out of Colonial a few times until I became a permanent resident in 2019. I enjoy watching movies and facetiming my grandchildren on my iPad, reading, get- ting my nails and hair done and shopping on the internet. But most of all I enjoy my visits with Bill and my friends,” said Ann. Are you a caring individual who would like to assist in caring for the elderly?
