Ms. Colonial Springs Donuts and Dad’s Day We would like to congratulate Betty Owens as she prepares to participate in the MHCA District IV Ms. Missouri Nursing Home Pageant. The pageant take place on Wednesday, June 10, at 9:30 a.m. at the Ramada Oasis in Springfield, Mo. She will be joining more than 20 other participants from the area to compete for the crown. The winner of the contest will travel to the state competition in August. Congratulations, Betty! We are all rooting for you! We will be celebrating Father’s Day with a Donuts and Dad social on Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m. in the dining room. All families are welcome to share this special time with their father. We will have a variety of homemade donuts, pastries and muffins for you to enjoy. (above) - Thelma visits with our Mexican donkey during our National Nursing Home Week’s festivities. Butterfly Week On the week of June 8—12, we will celebrate the beautiful butterfly. Butterflies can be found all across the United States, with a large variety centralized in Missouri. We will be honoring this Creature by making a variety of crafts and feeders, playing butterfly bingo and holding a discussions on the creation of the butterfly. (above) - Lillian and Iona enjoy at day at the Colonial Springs Derby horse races. Celebrate our Flag On June 14, Flag Day is celebrated across the United States. Our flag has been around since 1776. It represents the heart and soul of all Americans, both living and deceased. It symbolizes our freedom and the dedication of our veterans and active service people. Flag Day cannot be celebrated in one day, so we are expanding it into an entire week. We will be honoring our flag with its history, a discussion on “The Grand Ole’ Flag, flag crafts and trivia. On Friday, we will have our own flag ceremony complete with the folding of the American flag and what each step resembles.
