Back to the 50s Thank you… We would like to thank everyone who helped make this past Christmas season an enjoyable one for all of our residents. Thanks you to all of the staff, families, churches and volunteers who donated gifts to our facility. We are very fortunate to have such giving a community. We are very grateful for what you have done. The residents really (above) - June applies Modge Podge to appreciate your support. a Styrofoam ball to create a beautiful Thanks again, Patrice, Lisa and Lori Christmas ornament for our annual craft show. Since we will be celebrating the birth of Elvis Presley this month, we are going to travel back in time… back to the 1950s. We will go back to the hop and reminisce about the movies, cars, style of life, television and sporting events of the 50s. We will also play a couple of game shows that appeared on television such as What’s My Line? and The Price Is Right. Do you remember the hula hoop? They first appeared in the 1950s. We are going to try and see if we can still keep the hoop going. That should be a sight! Winter Wonderland Week Let the snow fly—we don’t care because we will be having a Winter Wonderland Week January 25—29. All week long our activities will revolve around winter and snow. We will be visiting the North Pole, create wintry dishes, have a winter tea party, make a snowman light and toss a few snowballs. You never know what kind of trouble we can find on those cold, wintry January days. Come out and join in on the fun. Watch the daily Chatter Box for an updated schedule of our Winter Wonderland Week. Happy New Year! (above) - Virginia gets ready to make her very own gingerbread house. Her daughter told us that it is a family tradition at her house with the grandkids. The residents and employees of Colonial Springs would like to wish everyone a very happy and safe new year. May 2016 be a healthy and prosperous one for all. An Aussie Vacation… Since it will be so cold outside this month, we are going to visit a place that’s warm all year round. Hopefully, it will make us feel warmer. Throughout the week, we will be exploring the continent of Australia. We will delve into the history, make a Joey pouch, a crocodile clip, and experience some great Australian treats. We might even have a native of Australia visit us and tell us a little about her native country. “New Year’s Day is special only as a symbol of a new beginning. The reality is that every day is a new beginning, a new chance to create the life that we desire.” Kevin Eikenberry
