Resident Spotlight
Peggy Jackson
Peggy Jackson was born June 23,
1940, to Lawrence and Elvava Huebner in
Goshen, Indiana. Peggy is the baby of the
family, having two brothers and one sister.
She grew up in Goshen. She never was
able to finish high school but she earned
her GED in 1979.
Peggy moved to Ohio in 1957, to work
as a nanny for three children. Eventually
she moved back to Indiana where she
worked in a canning factory putting labels
on cans. “I didn’t last long in this depart-
ment because my labels were always
crooked or on backwards,” laughs Peggy.
“I eventually was switched to another de-
partment.”
She was introduced to her first
husband, John Henry Whetstone, through
his brother. The couple were married June
4, 1959, and were married 11 years. They
had four girls. Susan lives in Branson,
Robin travels around Ohio as a nurse, and
both Christina and Loretta live in Indiana.
Peggy has six grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren and four great-great
grandchildren.
Peggy knew her current husband for
several years before they were married.
“We worked together at the Dallas Air
Station in the carpenter shop. He would
pick on me daily and make me so mad.
Over the years we became good friends
and he and his wife came to my GED
graduation. I eventually lost my job due to
illness and I moved away.”
Eight years later, Eldon was wandering
around in his car and happened to stop at
her house. “I was actually playing cards
with some friends and something told me
to go home. So I did. There on my steps
was Eldon Jackson. He didn’t even know I
lived there. I truly believe God put us
together that day. I found out his wife
passed away and he was very depressed.
We nursed each others wounds and
became the best of friends once again,
says Peggy.” The couple were married on
March 20, 1988.
After Eldon retired, they moved to
Hermitage in 1994, to be closer to his
mother. They later moved to Bolivar, then
settled in Buffalo in 2013.
Peggy enjoyed spending her free time
playing bingo and working on her
computer. The most she ever won was
$1000. She also plays here at Colonial,
but I don’t think she will ever win that
much! She also attends nail care, beauty
shop, and social gatherings. Mostly she
enjoys her visits with Eldon as he comes
almost daily to see her. They are a match
made in Heaven.
Thank you, Peggy, for allowing us to
get to know you better!
