She was an only child and grew up in the Independence area. In 1973, Pam graduated from William Chrisman High School. After graduation, she became a waitress. “I enjoyed waitressing,” said Pam with a smile. “I met so many nice people and loved socializing. I enjoyed getting to know the regulars.” In 1986, Pam and her parents moved Bolivar, in order to be closer to her mother’s brother. After a year, they returned to Independence, so her mother could be closer to her doctors. Upon their return, Pam’s parents would build a new house, located directly across from the Bass Tracker plant. As an active member of the congregation, Pam enjoyed going to St. Matthew’s Methodist Church, where she was a teacher’s aide for the first, second and third—grade Sunday school classes. During this time, Pam would help in the church nursery. “I loved playing with the babies,” stated Pam. “Mainly holding and cuddling the little ones.” In 1989, Pam and her family would return to Bolivar, where Pam cared for her ailing parents until their passing. Sadly, Pam’s mother would pass away in 2003 and her father in 2010. The following year, Pam suffered a stroke and heart attack. She moved into to Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility. This past July, she decided to make Colonial Springs Healthcare Center her new home. Pam spends her time playing bingo, making crafts, attending Bible studies and devotionals, and attending church services. “I love the residents and the staff who work here,” says Pam. “They are the best.” Thank you Pam for sharing your story with us!
