interrupted and the body and brain can return to normal. In over 18 years of experience with migraine sufferers, I have learned of a few conditions that seem to be fairly com- mon and will explain a cou- ple of them. One seems to be related to a woman’s monthly cycle. Sometimes the pituitary gland becomes unbalanced and stimulates the release of chemicals in the brain that cause inflammation to occur (as described above). A Bowen “move” on the coc- cyx (tailbone) at the base of the spine can emit a signal to the pituitary gland to come back into balance. Another common source of migraine can be a malfunctioning stellate ganglion, lo- cated at the base of the neck at C7. Once this glitch happens, it impairs blow flow in the brain. Specifically, blood is delivered to the brain, but the same amount of blood is not allowed to return to the heart. Blood pres- sure increases behind the optic nerve, causing pain. A Bowen “shoulder move” is ad- ministered, which tweaks the stellate ganglion and makes just the right adjustment for it to normalize. There are many origins of a mi- graine headache, too many to address here. But the majority of cases presented in my clinic have resolved either permanently or at least long-term with one or two ses- sions, sometimes with the needed assistance of dietary changes to reduce inflammation and elimi- nate migraine “triggers.” If you suffer from migraines and have reached the end of your rope, these effective therapies may be worth a try.
