DART to the State Fair of Texas ® R iding DART to the State Fair of Texas is a terrific way to spend time with friends or your family, whether you’re enjoying a live show, exploring the Creative Arts entries, or sampling some of the delicious – and often deep-fried – food. Big Tex ®  will greet you with a warm “howdy” when the gates swing open Sept. 29 for this year’s fair, which runs through Oct. 22. Seniors age 60 and older get into the fair free each Thurs- day. Every other day, the best price on fair admission tick- ets is through DART’s GoPass app ® where senior/child tick- ets are only $12 versus $14 at the gate or $12.50 online. Both your DART pass and your Fair tickets will be right there on your phone and scanned at the gates. Fair Park or MLK, Jr. Station Most DART riders are familiar with Fair Park Station. But MLK Jr. Station also serves Fair Park at Gate 6, near the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Passengers riding DART Rail and the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) to downtown Dallas can transfer easily to the Green Line. From downtown Dallas, Green Line trains going to the fair will read “BUCKNER,” “LAWNVIEW” or “FAIR PARK.” DART Fares and Passes DART Senior Citizen Annual Pass holders have everything they need to take DART to the State Fair. For those who are not annual pass holders, reduced fares are available for seniors ages 65 or older (with a valid DART pho- to ID), non-paratransit certified persons with disabilities (with valid DART photo ID) and Medicare card holders. Reduced Local Day Passes are only $2.50 each. Everyone ages 15-64 pays regular fare and a Local Adult Day Pass is $5. You may obtain a DART Senior Photo ID by visiting the DART Store, located at DART Headquarters at 1401 Pacific Ave. (Akard Station). The DART Store is open Monday-Friday, and photo IDs are made between 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. only. You must bring proof of age such as a driver’s license, passport or other substantiating documentation. There is a $2 fee to cover the cost of the photo. A DART Store agent will take your picture and create your DART Senior Photo ID card. DART passes can be purchased at any rail station from the ticket vending machines (TVMs), which take cash, debit cards and credit cards. When purchasing a pass on a bus, exact cash or change is required. Bus operators cannot provide change. GoPass app Smartphone users should download the free DART GoPass app, available in the App Store and the Google Play store. On GoPass, you can purchase your DART passes and State Fair of Texas tickets in advance, but DON’T ACTIVATE them until the day you go to the fair. The app also features travel tools, such as a trip planner, Where’s My Bus ® and Where’s My Train SM locators, links to ridesharing services and travel alerts. Learn more at DART.org/GoPass. Park free at a DART station Save time and gas; skip the hassle and expense of parking at Fair Park. Free parking is available at many DART transit centers or rail stations with Park & Ride lots. Find locations at DART.org/parking. Enjoy Level Boarding The center car of every DART Rail vehicle is a low-floor section that offers level boarding with the rail platform. DART’s new fleet of buses also has low-floor sections and is equipped with ramps that deploy for level boarding from the curb.
