Page 12 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT — msK By: Terrence Hazly Name your three biggest musical influ- ences and they affect you. The sounds of Stevie Wonder, the warmth of Billie Holiday, and the soul of Jill Scott. How has social media helped you grow? I h ave met a lot of musicians through Myspace in 2006, where I started writing for instrumentals. Presently I mainly connect through Facebook, Linkedin, Soundcloud, Twitter and Reverbnation. Some Internet radio stations have played some of my songs. Who's at the top of your playlist on your iTunes or radio right now? Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, Jill Scott, J Vizzion, msK How do you feel about being an independent artist from Denmark? What effect does that have on your music? I don’t get much soul/R&B/Jazz-inspiration from the music industry in Denmark because we do not have much soul/R&B music here. I have been working with some Danish producers, but mostly I’ve worked with people from the USA, which means I do the collaborations via network- ing. I cannot discuss all the details concerning the composing of the mu- sic via chat. I do make some compromises, but I like this kind of co- working. How much has your fanbase grown since you hit the scene? I have most followers on Myspace, but I get followers everyday from Twitter and Reverbnation, so its growing. What are the goals and heights that Ms. K the singer/songwriter, wants to reach? Who are some of your favorite producers to work with? My dream is to make a hit song, but it’s most important for me to create music for the love of music. I can’t tell you who my favorite producer is, though I appreciate everyone I’ve worked with. Any advice for young people, kids & adults especially the ladies that want to pursue a life of music? My advice is to focus on staying true to what you love about music. Many girls have a dream of being a big star. It’s worth it reaching out for your dream. Perhaps it could lead to a big career or singing for the pleasure.
