ARTIST SPOTLIGHT — TY NITTY By : Terrence Hazly
The spotlight is on the gritty MC from Queensbridge , New York Ty Nitty . The rugged and rough Love & Loyalty Records CEO / Rapper made his start on QB scene growing up with Mobb Deep ' s Havoc .
It was during that friendship he started going to studio sessions and eventually going on the road with Mobb Deep . This is where he developed his indescribable style , which is in fact based off of his true experiences or " real shit " as he told us . He has overcome a number of obstacles to stand where he is today .
" Being in a situation where you look up and people around you are dying makes you re-evaluate your life ." He witnessed his brother murdered on the cold streets at the age of 16 , losing both his father & his cousin alongside of dealing with the death of his best friend Killa Black , being shot in both legs and raising his daughter by himself due to the loss of his child ' s mother has truly sculpted this MC into one of the realest rappers around .... period .
He is influenced by other great New York rappers such as Biggie Smalls . " I liked his flow , he didn ' t care * black & ugly as eva '* and people loved him ." “ Nas and his brother Jungle was my friend growing up ." and Tupac Shakur , " Pac was smart and wild , he had talent on a different level . I thought of Pac as a preacher to the thug world . He had a crazy work ethic , could go beat for beat in the studio ."
Ty Nitty tells us twitter , Facebook , and YouTube helps the music scene out a lot . " It ' s way better than trying to get your music on BET ." You can be on the lookout for both old and new projects from this QB heavyweight on iTunes such as The Machine , AOW , Tattoos & Smoke , The Nitty Files 1-5 and the Queensbridge United project ." Shout out to Crime Fam !"
When it comes to listening to rap artists today he prefers Kendrick Lamar and " hungry hip hop artists that ’ s real . There ' s ALOT of bullshit out I don ' t agree with !" as well as listening to his own projects such as The Nitty Files 5 & his artist Juggernaut .
When it comes to being independent , he loves it . " We been independent the whole way and it ’ s always been poppin ' from day 1 . It took hard work to build the Infamous Mobb , been through thick and thin all the way back to the beef with Pac when we had to register our hotel rooms under different names . Shit was crazy , so being independent is my life and job ."
His fan base has grown huge from day 1 and for that he feels " blessed to be able to do this ." When it comes to reaching goals for himself and the Love & Loyalty regime he wants to see his label grow like Def Jam or Interscope while reaching greater international heights and " see artists grow , just be happy stay sucka free like groups that don ' t crumble , that stick together as a unit like the LOX . They stay sucka ' free . Shout out to Ron Artest & Stephon Marbury !"
His realness in the studio would translate to the real thing at a show as well " that hard mobb shit , gutta beats , Queensbridge shit . Tatts , drinks , authentic shit ". He encourages originality , believes " Originality is everything . Not gonna last long without it ." On the next level for Ty Nitty , you can expect a WHOLE LOT of music and videos on paperchaser . com " I want to give the people good music & go hard ".
