SPOTLIGHT ONE One year later, the majority of alumni are on track! How do our college graduates fare two years after college graduation? In last year’s survey, 12 recent graduates were still looking to land a job. In this year’s survey, we found that eight are now employed or pursuing graduate school. 4 Mariana’s story illustrates the hurdles some graduates encounter after college4 “I majored in psychology, thinking I might become a therapist, but as I neared graduation I discovered I had a passion for business and added it as my minor. After graduating, though, it was hard to find entry level positions in the business world that were a good fit. The one job I did get had such a toxic environment that I left after just three months. Thankfully, I was re-hired by the director of the childcare program I had worked for since I was 18-years-old. As a center that specializes in child development, my psychology training proved invaluable and I was quickly promoted to head teacher. To keep my passion alive, I’ve started a little side business, personalizing home decor items like mugs and candles. It motivated me to finish my MBA and continue to market my work, so I can eventually transition to a role at an agency or maybe even open my own store!” -Mariana, College Track East Palo Alto, B.A., Notre Dame de Namur University 2017, M.B.A., Liberty University 2019 College Track 7
