College Track: 2020 Social Mobility Report 2020 Social Mobility Report | Page 22

LOOKING AHEAD This year’s survey results continue to show that a bachelor’s degree is still the best predictor of social mobility, particularly for first- generation students from low-income communities. More broadly, our alumni are able to leverage the social mobility gained from a bachelor’s degree to lead a life of opportunity, choice, and power. Our College Track Communities The percentage of graduates employed post-graduation continues to rise and outpace the national average for all degree holders, regardless of socioeconomic status. Our alumni also graduate from college with a passion for community engagement. Whether they choose careers in the public sector or enter into entrepreneurial second jobs, they feel empowered to democratize potential across diverse populations, communities, and professions. In the coming years, we will continue refine our college affordability strategy to focus on enrollment in “Affordable Options,” but also ensuring our students have the freedom to focus on academics. We hope this effort will also ensure a living wage post-graduation for our alumni and their families. Since launching our first report in 2016, our alumni network has doubled from 300 to more than 600 college graduates from Northern California and New Orleans. Over the next five years, we will be able to expand our surveys to include alumni from Colorado, Los Angeles, and the D.C. Metro Area, reaching 1,400 new graduates nationwide paving a new future for generations to come. College Track 22
