Government commitment
The Minister of Agriculture , Food and Rural Affairs the Honourable Lisa Thompson commits to modernization of the Veterinarians Act and launches a public consultation .

2016
Broad consultations
The profession , partners and public share their ideas through consultations on concepts for modernization . Topics include quality assurance , scope of practice , the public register , notice of hearings , and mandatory reporting .
2019
Partnerships
The College , along with partners at the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians , collaborate in encouraging the provincial government ’ s interest and support in moving towards modernization .

2017
Proposal to government
19 recommendations are presented to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture , Food and Rural Affairs . Central to the proposal is recognition that animal care in Ontario is delivered by a team , which includes veterinarians , and veterinary technicians .
