College Connection | Fall 2025
Summary from recent hearing
The outcomes of discipline hearings are public information and provide a greater understanding of the veterinary profession’ s accountability to the public. Findings are posted on the College website, the Public Register, and on CanLii.
Dr. Joseph Wolfer
As a result of failing to report criminal charges to the College, failing to keep the College apprised of developments in a criminal matter, and contravening a law relevant to the member’ s suitability to practise veterinary medicine, the member’ s licence was suspended for 14 months. The member had been arrested, charged, and found guilty of one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
The remediation in the penalty includes a forensic psychiatric assessment, counselling and treatment recommended by the psychiatric assessor to demonstrate he is at low risk for repeating the conduct, and continued cooperation with physicians, therapists and other health care professionals regarding his health conditions. As well, the member must pay costs to the College of $ 5,000.
