As the judges noted, the students who participated in the competition were well prepared, demonstrated a command of the substantive law, and were articulate and persuasive. It was an impressive performance. Special kudos to the team from Georgetown who were drafted to participate in the competition only two weeks before it occurred. It was an incredible effort to learn the substantive law and get prepared in such a short time. The competition was won by the team from Campbell and the best oral presentation award went to Campbellā€™s Monique Kreisman.

The students all said they found the regional competition helpful as they prepared for the national Duberstein competition, which took place March 3 - 5, in New York City. All three teams from the Fourth Circuit regional competition participated in the national competition in New York, and the team from George Washington made in to the final round of that competition -- an extraordinary achievement -- cheered on, in a display of collegiality by the Georgetown and Campbell teams.

The Fourth Circuit fellows intend to host regional competitions in future years, and to offer more law schools within the Circuit the opportunity to participate.
