substantial due diligence and vetting is an important check and balance to ensure that all relevant information on nominees is obtained and available to the Board of Regents. The Board of Regents will then meet on October 28th during the NCBJ to make final decisions on the admissions of new Fellows for the 30th Class of the College.
On behalf of all the Regents, the Chairs of the Nominating Committees and the members of the Circuit Admissions Councils and Nominating Committees, I want to thank you in advance for your participation in this process. It is among the most important functions of the College and your participation will help safeguard that the College continues to be the preeminent organization that it is.

From the President
presented a panel on cross-border restructuring focused largely on the Hanjin Shipping case. While the highlight of our trip had to be the visit to and tour of the Demilitarized Zone where the leaders of North and South Korea would shake hands and step across the border into each other’s countries less than one week later, that experience was followed closely by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Judge Morris and the Chief Judge of the Seoul Bankruptcy Court, which was established March 1, 2017. Both Judge Morris and I were tremendously impressed not only
by the Korean judges’ extensive knowledge of their own country’s Debtor Bankruptcy and Rehabilitation Act, but by our own Chapter 11 system that the DBRA closely mirrors. The creation of this first specialized bankruptcy court in South Korea has been followed closely in the international insolvency community, and undoubtedly will be duplicated in other countries across the region and the world
I look forward with great enthusiasm to the next two years, and to the opportunity to collaborate with so many of you on the exciting work of our College!
