His superb and expansive record of professional accomplishment has earned him praise and respect from judges , lawyers and financial advisors around the country . During his 50- year practice , he has been qualified as an expert witness , has represented creditors , debtors , and trustees in a broad array of business bankruptcy cases , and has handled commercial disputes in state and federal trial and appellate courts . He has over 300 reported decisions .
Over the years , Mr . Vance has authored numerous law review and continuing education articles and has frequently presented on numerous topics . As a constant role model and hands-on advisor to many young professionals , he has encouraged them not only to be excellent lawyers but also to be active in civic and professional matters . He is known to always go out of his way to give others opportunities and to thoughtfully and publicly share credit for any accomplishment .
Mr . Vance has a strong and enduring commitment to charitable and civic organizations . He has served in leadership positions , including Board President , with the Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation , which provides free legal aid for low-income people across 22 civil parishes in southeast Louisiana . He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Whitney Plantation , a non-profit located at a former plantation dedicated to preserving and teaching the history of enslaved people .
Mr . Vance received a B . A . with highest College Honors and a J . D . from the Louisiana State University , and afterwards , predictably , has been an engaged alumnus . Among other honors , he is a recipient of the John R . “ Jack ” Martzell Professionalism Award from the Federal Bar Association , New Orleans Chapter ( 2023 ) and the New Orleans Bar Association President ’ s Award ( 2016 ).
