for the next three to five years ( and beyond ), by looking for specific opportunities to help cultivate potential future candidates . Examples might include identifying opportunities for local counsels in smaller Circuits to more substantively participate in national cases filed in their jurisdictions , casting a wider net for diverse professionals to participate in panels and conferences and mentoring younger professionals to seek out leadership positions within various bar and community organizations . This work cannot be left solely to the Regents and Circuit Admissions Councils however – indeed , each of us should be thinking of how we might identify and engage potential future College Fellows , well in advance of when a candidate might actually be considered for selection . Only through thoughtful and deliberate effort will we be able to identify the potential restructuring superstars of tomorrow and continue to build the future of the College to reflect the communities in which we all live and practice .
It Takes a Village
I would be remiss in not thanking the Regents and Nominating Committee Chairs who worked so tirelessly to cultivate this year ’ s stellar class , especially those Regents who will be stepping down upon conclusion of their three-year term – I cannot thank you enough for your hard work , dedication and passion for the College . I was truly inspired by your service and grateful for the guidance ( and grace ) you all showed me my first year as Chair !
