This was IWIRC’s first opportunity to partner with the College, and IWIRC is very grateful for the insight the College members were able to provide at the breakfast. IWIRC welcomes the opportunity to partner with the American College of Bankruptcy in the future in order to increase both the profile and involvement of women within the insolvency industry.

Again, on behalf of IWIRC, we thank the American College of Bankruptcy and, specifically, Judge Jennemann and Judge Fitzgerald of the Liaison Committee, for their efforts in organizing and participating in this joint event.

Nancy C. Dreher Lecture on Bankruptcy Law and Practice

The College and the University of Minnesota Law School Corporate Institute hosted the 3rd annual Nancy C. Dreher Lecture on Bankruptcy Law and Practice on November 12 at the Law School. Judge Robert Kressel moderated a discussion focusing on law and policy issues raised by the proliferation of student debt in America. The featured speakers were Chief Judge Anita Shodeen of the Southern District of Iowa Bankruptcy Court and Prof. Jim Haines, of the University of Maine School of Law. Approximately 60 attorneys and law students attended the live program with 20 additional participants viewing the livestream feed on the web. The Dreher Lecture was established by the College to recognize Judge Dreher’s lifetime commitment to excellence, the ethical practice of law and scholarship. Each year, the Minnesota Fellows invite distinguished practitioners, academics or judges to come to Minnesota to discuss emerging issues in bankruptcy law and practice. The lecture materials can be found by clicking here.
