Harptone and Geib overlapped in the old world. Both were prominent names, and both built similar cases at various points in their histories. The credibility TKL built through its Harptone reissue work translated directly to the Geib project, and both Harptone and Geib had built cases for many of the same guitar companies TKL already served.

Building TKL

Dougherty started Cedar Creek Cases in 1992 with an explicit goal: build a high-end, well-constructed, sometimes historically correct case. Not the mainstream product, but something better. The hardware, the covering, the handle— all of it hearkened back to the quality of the earlier eras. Cedar Creek became the platform for everything that followed.
