TREY HENSLEY

Trey Hensley

GUITAR WITHOUT BORDERS— OR LIMITS By Eric Dahl
Trey Hensley doesn’ t wear the title of“ world-class guitarist” easily, but it’ s one that fans and fellow musicians have bestowed upon this East Tennessee picker time and again. He first stepped onto the Grand Ole Opry stage at age 11, invited by country music legends Marty Stuart and Earl Scruggs. Since then, he’ s won IBMA awards in 2016 and 2017, claimed IBMA Guitar Player of the Year honors in both 2023 and 2025, and took home his first Grammy in 2025 for Best Traditional Blues Album on a project with the legendary Taj Mahal. As if blurring musical boundaries weren’ t already his specialty, Hensley has also been invited to perform at Eric Clapton’ s Crossroads Guitar Festival and the White House. Now, as he releases singles from an upcoming solo album and debuts his new Taylor signature model acoustic guitar, Collectible Guitar caught up with Hensley
