INCORPORATING COLD CHAIN
Continued from page 9
As a 100% South African owned company,
Everflo is poised to expand its product
range and focus on gaining market share
in Africa and abroad. “Our expertise lies
in complete refrigeration solutions for the
fishing, marine, and aquaculture industry,
both on-board and land-based,” said
Potgieter. For this specific sector, they
have low-charge ammonia freezing units
in DX overfeed and pumped circulation
format. It offers water chilling systems for
seawater, fresh water, and glycol chillers.
The Flo Ice system produces a slurry mixture
for the rapid chilling of fish soon after being
landed. For each application, Everflo
has developed unique and innovative
packaged units with the smallest footprint
for installation in confined spaces and easy
to transport and install in remote locations.
All parts of the packages, be it chilling,
Flo Ice, or low-charge ammonia units
(except for the compressors, valves, and
pumps), are designed and manufactured
in-house. Pressure vessels, heat exchangers,
ice generators, and package frames are
manufactured in-house by their trained staff.
Everflo boasts modern purpose-built
premises in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town,
and a staff complement of 42 — 16 in
management and engineering and 26 in
manufacturing and service. They contract
additional staff for site installation work.

for a wide cross-section of the foreign
market in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Norway,
Iceland, Angola, Zambia, Australia, Russia,
Namibia, and Spain.
“Everflo prides itself in having well-
engineered products of high quality.
When supplying into markets across
the globe, there is no room for lack
of performance or poor quality. Any
comebacks are costly and damaging to
our reputation,” said Potgieter.

energy in food processing, thermal storage
in chill water systems, district cooling, and
the unique application to decontaminate
water from deep-level mining.
The interest shown in its packaged
low-charge ammonia systems, which can
easily be connected to cold stores, blast
freezers or chillers, has been encouraging.
The system allows for multiple packages to
be installed according to cooling load, or
added at a later stage. “All packages are
designed to be transported on standard
road vehicles or shipped in ISO marine
containers,” Potgieter concluded.
