NEWS INCORPORATING COLD CHAIN compressor were installed. General Mills was later acquired by the Rhodes Food group and MSC have continued with the design and installation of many further plants for the company. Mainly through word of mouth, the business grew and in 2000 Kurt Johannsen joined Vuletic. With Johannsen on board, Multistage Cooling did their first design and installation project, which was for Country Bird in Tigane (near Klerksdorp). “It was the first time that Multistage Cooling had to purchase large capital equipment,” remembers Vuletic. Without any hesitation, Paul Barter (then with Krier Africa) extended his fullest trust in Multistage Cooling and supplied the required Gram screw compressors, two SAB202 and one SAB128. “The trust shown by Paul certainly kick started Multistage Cooling and we have not looked back,” says Vuletic. He continues with great passion, “Each project has been a new challenge and we take great pride in maintaining a high standard of workmanship and we always complete on time. We believe in going the extra mile for all our clients, no matter how big or small.” This approach has seen MSC awarded many contracts from the same clients such as Clover, Spar, ID Logistics, Bidvest, Country Bird and many ice rinks around South Africa. The largest contract in cooling capacity and size was for Imperial Cold Logistics in Linbro Park, Johannesburg. Once again, the contract was completed on time within a very tight schedule. “The variety of projects and the clients that we have dealt with has been a strong driving force behind my passion for the industry. Each one different and needing innovation.” One of their most recent projects was to install an ammonia chiller for the chamber at the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) in Pretoria to test the thermal efficiency of insulated road vehicles up to 14m in length and a height of 4.1m. This was certainly the first of its kind in South Africa and had totally different challenges.” Part of the success of Multistage Cooling, can be attributed to Vuletic’s willingness to contribute towards the development of the industry. In 2005, Vuletic assisted with the training of competitors for the WorldSkills South Africa (WSSA) competition and in 2007 he was part of South Africa’s team to the WorldSkills competition in Japan. Since 2005, Vuletic has been the driving force behind the refrigeration team at the WSSA competitions, preparing equipment, setting the tests, arranging judges and other tasks. At WorldSkills, he is A hot water buffer tank in the new plant installed for Barbeque Rib Manufacturers in 2015 in Kya Sands. The Imperial Cold Logistics was the largest project in size done by MSC.
