Supplied by SAQCC Gas

It ’ s been 15 years since SAQCC Gas was formed under the mandate from Department of Employment and Labour .

SAQCC Gas is non-profit company that has been formed by the four member associations to establish a central database of authorised gas practitioners to work on gas and gas systems as per the Pressure Equipment Regulation 17 .

Initially , the four associations who formed
SAQCC Gas were :
• Liquified Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa ( LPGSASA )
• South African Compressed Gas Association ( SACGA )
• Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Council of South Africa ( ACRICSA )
• South African Pipeline Gas Association ( SAPGA )
Over the years the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Council of South Africa ( ACRICSA ) was replaced by the South African Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractors Association ( SARACCA ); the South African Pipeline Gas Association ( SAPGA ) changed to Southern African Gas Association ( SAGA ); and Liquified Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa

( LPGSASA ) changed to Liquified Petroleum Gas Association of South Africa ( LPGSA ).
The gas industry is well governed and safe , its practitioners trained and competent to work on the various fields as per their scope of registration . SAQCC Gas ’ online database is accurate , up-to-date , accessible 24 / 7 , and its website is www . saqccgas . co . za . It has different skills sets , including domestic , commercial , industrial and more . There are different options available to search for practitioners in each area , by searching according to province , town , suburb , company , or practitioner license number . The registration started slowly and has been increasing over the years , and to date has grown to more than 5 000 active practitioners .
Compliance and safety are the organisation ’ s priority . Its gas practitioners are professional and abide by the body ’ s Code of Conduct and Code of Good Practice .
There ’ s been a lot of developments over the years : it commenced with a manual registration process , which today has been digitalised . It is also pleased to announce that this year marks the end of paper Certificates of Conformity ( CoC ), which
1 . Eddie Cook , director at SAQCC Gas ( left ) and John Parry , chairman of SAQCC Gas and director of SARACCA ( right ).
2 . SAQCC Gas ’ Virginia Mtshali ( left ) and Sindiswa Majavu ( right ).
are now replaced with the electronic CoC system . This ensures that only a registered person issues a CoC – easy to trace and easily accessible for both the associations and the gas practitioners .
SAQCC Gas appreciates the contributions made by industry stakeholders , and thanks the Department of Employment and Labour for their support , as well as all the directors who have given their time to build SAQCC Gas over the past 15 years .
Looking forward to another 15 years of sustainable growth in serving the gas industry ! CLA
