“It’s important to have greater variety
in terms of skills and competencies
to successfully process the variety of
challenges that we face in the HVAC&R
industry,” says Marius la Grange, South
African Institute of Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning (SAIRAC) president.
With one of those changes being the
move towards ‘greener’ alternatives
when it comes to refrigerants, we need
a great deal of research on making
sense of all the factors and variables to
consider. “South Africa is not unique in
this regard, with Europe having started
many of the trends that await our
industry,” says La Grange.
To assist in this regard, Proklima has
compiled some relevant publications. A
very good one to start with would be the
one on natural refrigerants, La Grange
recommends. It covers the basics
very well, with a wealth of practical
applications globally to gain from.
