AUTOMATED CONTROL SOLUTIONS
We at Automated Control Solutions ( ACS ), are proud to introduce the AB-QM 4.0 Flexo – a compact , 8-in-1 , PICV solution for fast installation , flushing and servicing of fan coil units in hydronic HVAC systems as used in public and commercial buildings .
The AB-QM 4.0 Flexo is a pre-assembled set to simplify the installation , commissioning , and servicing of fan coil units . The set consists of an AB-QM 4.0 Pressure Independent Control Valve ( PICV ) for accurate , dynamic balancing and control performance . In addition , the pressure tested connection set contains three 2-way ball-valves , a strainer with integrated drain valve and three test plugs for pressure- or flow measurements .
With these , the set provides an 8-in-1 solution for hydronic balancing , control , measuring , installation , flushing , filling , draining , and servicing of the fan coil units they are installed on .
BARPRO STORAGE MOBILE RACKING SYSTEM
Mobile racking solutions were first designed in the 1960s in the UK by the Barpro Group . The storage solution was installed to overcome its own warehouse space constraints . Following the success of the first installation the group expanded into other applications and later became the mobile racking manufacturer of choice for British and European ambient and cold storage warehouses .
The concept of mobile racking arrived in South Africa where Barpro installed its first system in Hermanus . Barpro Storage SA ( Pty ) Ltd was established in September 1996 , which followed the lead of its predecessors of the Barpro Group . This has become the foundation for what is now a global product .
How does it work ? The racking superstructure is fixed onto electrically powered mobile bases , which move on rails embedded in the floor . The mobile racks can be controlled using on-base pushbuttons or via a remote control . This is ideal for forklift operators who can open new aisles without leaving their vehicles .
There are Barpro installations in South Africa ( overseen by Barpro Storage ) that are still operational after more than 20 years .

And , now for the first time ever on a Carel supervisor , BOSS introduces the leading protocol in HVAC supervision applications – BACnet .

Bitzer contributes to the development of the Internet of things in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry : the BDN offers its users key product and application-specific information on all Bitzer products . This includes , for example , online monitoring , compressor operating reports and thus immediate help with troubleshooting . The basis for this is the cloud provided by Bitzer as well as the know-how and IQ products of the specialist for refrigeration and air conditioning technology .
Together with targeted data analysis , this combination creates a solution that is new to the market and makes it easier for partners to set up and expand their own digital service infrastructure . They thus benefit from simple connection to their refrigeration systems , enabling remote access and troubleshooting in real time .
COLCOIL TECHNOLOGIES
Given the market demand for complete refrigeration solutions , Colcoil Technologies started development of its compressorised simplex and multiplex product range in 2019 . The goal was to offer our customers the complete refrigeration system , from plant room to trading floor .
We have added to our extensive fin and tube heat exchanger offering , three standard refrigeration ranges namely Polyplex Racks , Modiplex Packs , and Vertiplex Units . These product ranges complimented our existing Miniplex and Aqualoop energy-efficient systems that make use of Carel HECU and HEOS systems , respectively .
Only the highest quality components and electrical switchgear is used , and various compressor and controller options are available on request . All frames and casings are powder coated galvanised steel , with weatherproof and indoor options available .
Our equipment is built in Africa , for Africa . Its modular design is engineered to be robust , and all ranges include voltage protection to protect against power surges during rolling blackouts .
To-date we have supplied our full system solutions to many of the top retailers in South Africa and neighbouring countries , as well as various agricultural and processing plants .
The logical next step was to evolve to natural refrigerants , and in June 2021 Colcoil released its CO₂ Transcritical range of racks with a CO₂ gas cooler range to follow in the coming months .
COLDCUBED
Coldcubed is owned by Dr Johan Ferreira and Dr Malcolm Dodd who have over 60 years of collective cold chain experience on fresh produce with short shelf-life ( less than ten days ).
Coldcubed offers unique customised products to manage the cold value chain with live information . Having live information enables proactive decision making on fresh produce movement .
These products include : 1 . Thermal maps ; creating a data-based temperature profile of a cold storage facility , such as large distribution centres .
2 . Live temperature dashboards that will reflect current temperatures within all the rooms of a cold storage facility . This will enable an immediate response to out-of-temperature situations and keep a record of temperatures in the event of claims or to meet the requirements of the Food Safety Act .
3 . An ‘ Icicle ’ that can accompany product on the journey to reflect the temperatures live of what the product is being exposed to and therefore allow quick decision making on how to rectify any thermal abuse .
4 . Provide live temperature dashboards of ‘ Icicles ’ to manage fleet cold chain , for example , when third party transport and supplies are being used by a co-packer .
