Again , presentations filled the day from 8:30 until about 15:00 .
Presenters included :
• Kavir Sewlall , sales leader : Danfoss SA , spoke on ‘ EnVisioneering – IoT in the cold chain ’.
• Fred Albrecht , CEO of Logistics Systems Engineering , discussed ‘ Pros and cons of warehouse automation in the refrigerated sector ’.
• Kosta Kontos , MD Kontos Data Bank , spoke on ‘ Data science demystified : Data strategy in practice ’.
• James Cunningham , MD Barpro Storage SA , presented on ‘ Innovative cold storage solutions with racking systems ’.
• Martin Bailey Executive Industrial Logistic System , spoke on ‘ Designing you fool-proof cold storage warehouse ’.
• Gerhard van Zyl , group operations director : Professional Group of Companies , discussed ‘ The power of tech in the cold chain industry ’.
• Next followed a panel discussion on the topic ‘ Building the next generation cold chain : How AI is leapfrogging the cold chain industry ’ featuring Kosta Kontos , MD Kontos Data Bank and Mischa Slabbert , MD G8way Technologies .
• Samantha Sharkey , CEO TMSA , spoke on ‘ Reviewing temperature setpoints to save energy across the cold chain ’.
• Dr Tarl Berry , researcher at University of Stellenbosch , spoke on ‘ Cold chain logistics and the drive for resilience in Africa ’ s food chain ’.
• Kone Souleymane , team lead , essential programme on immunisation , World Health Organization , gave a prerecorded presentation on ‘ The importance and challenges of cold storage infrastructure and refrigeration technologies to ensure efficient distribution systems for temperature sensitive products ’.
The conference ended with closing remarks and a group photo .
