and even consumables delivered in one vehicle, disruptions to trading are reduced, security is improved, and hazard analysis and critical control point( HACCP) standards are enforced.

Although great technological strides towards more efficient refrigerated transport are being made on all fronts, the importance of ease of operation and user-friendliness must not be overlooked.

Moveable partitions for frozen, chilled, and ambient products in multitemperature vehicles are generally a

problem to handle and maintain. The partitions are difficult to handle, do not seal fully, or require high maintenance.

The partitions need to be insulated and sealed tightly to prevent air from the frozen compartment freezing the chilled compartment. Likewise, the air from the chilled compartment must not cause any damage to the ambient products. During long-distance journeys, when the load compartment remains closed for up to 20 hours, the cross-flow of air at different temperatures between the

compartments damages the products; for example, frozen lettuce or tomatoes, or moist bread buns have no resale value. The risk of temperature damage is higher when operators opt for thermostatically controlled fans in the partitions, instead of having remote evaporators in circuit with the host refrigeration unit on the front wall.
