The 2020 AHR Expo announced its full schedule of sessions for the 2020 Education Programme, including more than 200 free seminars, new product and technology presentations, professional certifications and continuing education courses. Each year, the Education Programme discusses some of HVAC&R’s biggest opportunities and challenges through a series of comprehensive, informative and industry-focused sessions hosted by leaders from every sector of the industry. This year, the AHR Expo will add a series of HVACR trend discussions led by members of the AHR Expo Expert Council. The 2020 AHR Expo will be held from 3-5 February in Orlando, Florida. “The Education Programme adds a unique element of learning to the AHR Expo with the opportunity to hear directly from leaders within the HVACR industry about the latest trends, applications and practices,” said Mark Stevens, AHR Expo Show manager. “The development of our session schedule is ongoing, and we take careful consideration of discussions happening across the industry to identify pain points, opportunities and trends where we might offer support and solutions through dedicated sessions. AHR Expo attendees have the opportunity to participate in professional development courses through ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI) and short courses/ professional development seminars approved for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that can apply toward maintaining PE licensure. Attendees are required to register and pay tuition fees in advance of the Show and can do so by visiting the ASHRAE registration website. Full-day courses account for six earned Professional Development Hours (PDHs)/Learning Units (LUs) or 0.6 CEUs. All half-day courses are awarded three accredited PDHs/AIA LUs. PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS COLD LINK AFRICA • January/February 2020 Industry-relevant topics that deal with taking the industry forward will be covered at the 2020 AHR Expo. ASHRAE CONFERENCE ASHRAE will be hosting a technical programme at the 2020 Winter Conference, co-hosted at the Expo. The conference’s technical programme offers over 100 technical sessions, 300 speakers, and more than 150 PDHs. “With changing energy, economic and environmental concerns at the forefront of building decisions, a focus on emerging approaches and advanced concepts of addressing those concerns have become more crucial to building professionals,” says conference chair, Melanie Derby. “The 2020 ASHRAE Winter Conference technical programme will present cutting-edge methods and practices on a wide-range of topics to provide solutions to these contemporary building- related concerns.” The five-day event includes eight conference tracks, selected to represent areas of focus common among ASHRAE membership. A new and anticipated track at this year’s conference, ‘Big Data and Smart Controls’, will examine the use of big data, advanced algorithms, occupancy-based control strategies, data mining and other analytical techniques to economically automate buildings.  Another new conference track showcases ASHRAE’s leadership role in the development of standards and guidelines that are used to shape codes. The track ‘Standards, Guidelines and Codes’, will include topics such as the standards development process, the use of standards to help mechanical systems in buildings survive disaster and linking Standard 100 with Standard 90.1-2019, among others. CONFERENCE TRACKS INCLUDE: • • • • • • • • HVAC&R fundamentals and applications; Systems and equipment; Refrigeration and refrigerants; Cutting edge approaches; High efficiency design and operation; Big data and smart controls; Ventilation, IAQ and air distribution systems; and Standards, guidelines and codes. ASHRAE will offer three Residential Buildings ‘mini-tracks’ and three Refrigeration and Refrigerants track sessions at the AHR Expo. These sessions offer AHR Expo attendees updates on pertinent topics and are free to attend. The ASHRAE Learning Institute (ALI) will offer four full-day seminars and 17 half-day short courses during the conference. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to download the MyShowPlanner App for iOS and Android to manage their Show and Education Programme schedule.
