NEWS INCORPORATING COLD CHAIN TecsaReco relocated branch welcomed by clients By John Ackermann “ Within days of opening the doors of our Montague Gardens relocated branch, our counter trade has shot up. Our clients in Killarney Gardens have increased their purchases tenfold,” says Sebastian Muller, branch manager, TecsaReco Cape Town. The new location on the busy Montague Drive in Montague Gardens, has extended the storage space and given a fresh new look to the sales counter. “Cape Town now has the best-looking branch in our national network of 26 branches and my sincere thanks to the staff that have worked tirelessly to relocate from Paarden Eiland back to our previous home in Montague Gardens,” said Alan Brown, managing director, TecsaReco. Brown and the senior management team were at the official opening of the Cape Town branch. “The marquee that has been set up for the occasion looks outstanding and our sincere thanks to the Cape Town team who have done such a stunning job. Without the support of our customers, this would also not have been possible and my thanks to all that have come to join our celebrations,” said Brown. Before enjoying lamb on the spit, Selvyn Niebuhr, AC division manager, presented the latest models and developments in the TCL range of air conditioning equipment. “Since our agreement with TCL, we have concentrated on strengthening the brand awareness. TCL is now a dominant player in the South African heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) market. The product is redeveloped continually to reduce noise levels, improve efficiency and make installation and maintenance much easier. In China, TCL has moved from position 12 among all the listed air conditioning manufacturers to number three and has held that position for the last two years. TCL has a number of firsts to their credit including the first in China to have portable air conditioning units charged The trade counter offers a relaxed environment. with R290. The noise levels of the split units have been reduced to ultra-low levels by a redesign of the intake grills as well as the supply air duct. The number of fasteners and fixing screws have been reduced for easy access during installation and maintenance. This feature is a big drawcard among contractors and service companies. The 90 000 btu/hr floor- standing unit on display in the Cape Town show room has two compressors and therefore a dual piping circuit. All coils, indoor and outdoor, are coated with TitanGold for added protection, longer life and anti-bacteria protection. TCL has a full range of air conditioning solutions to offer, R410A invertor or fixed speed, floor- standing, cassettes, split units or systems to be ducted. Tiaan Barnard of Danfoss was keen to take centre stage with the technological developments in food preservation, transport, energy efficiency systems and drive trains. “Danfoss has a focus on the lifestyle of future generations and sustaining the natural resources that we presently enjoy. An energy efficient from farm to fork food chain to reduce global hunger is high on the R&D agenda of Danfoss.” The latest electronic Testo Service manifold has added features. Via the Testo App and a Smart phone, technicians can even submit service reports without writing a single line, something all service technicians hate doing. To end the presentations, product manager, Mohammed Mulla praised the many individuals who had taken the company from a supplier of appliance spares to a national network of multi-disciplinary outlets. “The many leading brand names that we now offer has extended TecsaReco beyond a supplier of appliance spares. Personally, I still have a strong passion for our original business, which made us South Africa’s number one supplier of A display of the popular Whirlybird turbine ventilator for mounting on roofs. appliance spares.” 6 www.coldlinkafrica.co.za Sebastian Muller (second from left) with some of his Cape Town staff members. Alan Brown at the new Cape Town sales counter. Amid the festivities that followed the many Cape Town staff, all dressed in blue, were keen to take guests on guided tours of the new warehouse, showroom and trade counter. For some lucky guests whose business cards were drawn, there were handsome prizes of TCL air conditioners, charging sets, mini cylinders of refrigerant and tool sets. Many left with far more than what they arrived with. Meeting Alan Brown in the showroom, he shared his thoughts, “The new Cape Town showroom and sales counter truly does justice to our product range and services. Appliance spares is now a small part of our business, but still has a high throughput of clients. TCL is our biggest brand name and from our market research, our market share has grown significantly. Other well-known brand names that we stock are Danfoss, Testo Instruments, Whirlybird turbine ventilators and three brand names of evaporative coolers. In refrigeration our focus is on small and commercial systems with embraco and Manuerop as our leading compressors. The TecsaReco basket of goods and services includes off-the-shelf engineered solutions. “Our entire team is focused on service and with facilities such as our new Cape Town branch, they are motivated to go the extra mile. Each of our 26 branches are geared towards being a welcoming environment for our clients,” concludes Brown. CLA COLD LINK AFRICA • January/February 2020
