SAMON ’ s new small-format refrigerant leak detector
SAMON announces the introduction of GLACIÄR MICRO , a small-format refrigerant leak detector specifically designed for integration into OEM equipment .
Typical applications include installation in heat pumps and refrigerated display cases to provide evaporator-level detection .
As the global refrigerant market goes through phase-down of higher-GWP ( global warming potential ) refrigerants , the use of A2L refrigerants and natural refrigerants in refrigerated appliances and heat pumps is growing ever more important . GLACIÄR MICRO is available in a version to detect A2L refrigerants including R454A , R454C and R32 , and a version specifically designed for R290 / propane detection .
GLACIÄR MICRO is equipped with infrared sensor technology . Infrared sensors are field-proven over many years in refrigerant gas detection applications , are unaffected by false alarms due to crossgas interference , and have a long life span typically in excess of 10 years . GLACIÄR MICRO does not require maintenance and is equipped with auto-calibration of the zero point , protecting the measurement against offsets from baseline drift over time .

Launch of new , stylish Carbon Edition SD1140 announced
Staycold International are now offering a variation to their range – the SD1140 Carbon Edition . This is a black version of their flagship double sliding door upright cooler , the SD1140 unit .
This came about in answer to requests from the market and has been made possible due to the new manufacturing equipment Staycold has recently purchased . A run is now available for the South African , African and export markets .

The investment in manufacturing equipment for their ISO 9001:2015 factory in Parys , Free State included a coil-to-laser cutting machine from Laser ISSE in Turkey during March 2023 . This machine , a first of its kind in Africa , arrived in early July . Laser ISSE ’ s engineering team then spent two weeks setting up and commissioning this , which cuts material directly from the coil helping with optimisation and decreasing wastage .
The SD1140 Carbon Edition ( SD1140-CE ) is also available in Hydrocarbon refrigerant ( R290 ) which is a net-zero compatible alternative to HFC-based systems .
