EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS INCORPORATING COLD CHAIN The final segment of her talk focused on the IIR and the work this international association has done with regard to facilitating and assisting in the phase down of ODSs. She spoke about the 5 various books, informative notes, research papers, and guidelines that the association has put together to assist with compliance with the F-Gas regulations. There used to be much closer partnership between South Africa and the IIR and she commented that this would be beneficial to revisit. NAMIBIA’S EXAMPLE Midrand Dr Colombo also spoke on the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) Gapometer project report, which advises on which alternative refrigerant to use for new and existing equipment. She invited guests to download the report online. Next up was Amalia Nangolo of the Namibian National Ozone Unit (NOU), who, similar to South Africa’s own NOU, is responsible for the phase-down/out regulations in the country. Nangolo spoke about Namibia’s obligation to the MP and our neighbouring country’s HPMP and how they accomplished their goals that side. She spoke about challenges and opportunities, explaining that Namibia plans to have completely stopped the import and usage of ODSs by 2021.
