mt warning
Mt Warning is an iconic landmark of
the Northern Rivers. The mountain is the
remnant central vent of an ancient volcano, and has a dual name. Captain
Cook named it Mount Warning but to
the Aboriginal community, it is know
as Wollumbin. As of last month it is now
back open for the general public.
I had the good
fortune to walk to the
summit with my 8
year daughter. If you
are
unfit
and
struggling with the
midlife bulge, then
this mountain is not
your friend. It was
very challenging, but with the help of
Jordyn my daughter, we both made it to
the summit. The best thing about the
walk were the people we met along the
way. As we were going up, the early
risers, started to come down, and I have
never seen so many happy people,
laughing and inspiring us to “keep
going” you are almost there. How they
must have laughed, knowing we were
only half way. That is the secret to
keeping going, just thinking you are
nearly there. Jordyn was a total
inspiration to ensuring I joined this
exclusive climbers club. Mt Warning was
also a place of Romance on this sunny
day. Tim Mc Kenzie surprised his beautiful
girlfriend
Whitney
Rose with a picnic
basket
and
a
diamond
ring.
Having struggled to
get Whitney out of
the car let alone
climb the mountain,
he managed to get
her to the summit where he popped the
question. What a great day all round. Do
yourself a favour and climb this most
amazing Mountain, but be prepared to
hurt for the next two days.
