What it takes to be a Wildcat
Jenna Demastes spent the first half of the fall semester
telling high school students what it takes to be a Wildcat.
Demastes, director of recruitment for the College of
Education, joined the UK Office of Undergraduate Admission
in recruiting an academically talented student body to enrich
the learning community and represent the diverse society
in which we live. The tour stopped in Lexington, northern
Kentucky, Louisville, Dayton, Cleveland, Indianapolis,
Chicago, Somerset, Corbin, St. Louis, Paducah, Hopkinsville,
Owensboro, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Ashland,
Pikeville, Atlanta, Nashville, Maysville and Columbus.
Demastes told prospective students about the College of
Education, admissions, financial aid, scholarships, housing/
living learning programs and the wide array of majors and
degree programs that UK has to offer.
On Student Teaching
“When every other major led to discontent,
I took one education class in which I had to
acquire observation hours in the school. Within
my first visit to a second-grade classroom, I
knew that’s what I wanted to do forever.”
