Signs of the others among us

As most UFO ‘historians’ or students know, the so-called modern era of UFOs began in June 24 1947 when Kenneth Arnold flying in the vicinity of Mount Rainier Washington (he was looking for a missing plane) spotted several shiny metallic objects which he did not recognize as normal aircraft. Soon reports started coming in from all over the globe, including some reports which were mostly ignored and filed away in which witnesses reported not only seeing a strange object but its occupants. Of course back in those days these ‘occupants’ were mostly called, “Martians, Little Green men, spacemen, etc”, the world humanoid did not come into play until years later.

But before that fateful day in June there had been reports of encounters already, most kept secret by those who expe-rienced them, but echoes of things to come for sure. In the files of countless UFO groups and organizations worldwide there are those reports which seemed to indicate that our humanoid friends had been around for a while, way before 1947. We will examine some interesting cases which prove this point.

Before 1947

I will not bother with the well-known airship reports from 1896-1897 as most don’t really appear to describe a truly unknown or possibly extraterrestrial craft.

A year before 1896, exactly on May 5 1895 in the village of Goztepe, Istanbul area in Turkey, one afternoon, a young girl called Atifet Tamer was looking out her window of her home when she saw a strange object descend from the sky that appeared to be surrounded by flames. Curious, she ran out to see where it had landed on the wooded hillside near her home. She described the object as “a spinning top” (echoing modern descriptions). A door opened and several man-like creatures exited the craft. They wore peculiar clothing and moved in an odd manner, but otherwise resembled ‘normal’ men. She was really terrified and eventually ran away from the area and only told her family what she had seen. She was told to keep quiet.

The source of this interesting report is Eric Saunders in UFO Magazine Vol. 15 #1 (The U.K. UFO Magazine).

Recently, there has been a lot of talk and reports about the so-called “Flying humanoids” which have been seen worldwide in many occasions.

Apparently they too had been around for a long time:

One night sometime in June of 1897 in the small town of Acworth Georgia (USA) according to newspaper sources, wit-nesses had seen “a strange figure which resembled a woman with long flowing black hair” that was flying through the air three or four hundred feet above the Litchfield Hotel.

This interesting report comes from Jim Miles, Weird Georgia, p. 2. He cites “Journal” June 14 1897.
