It is like “corking” a vessel, so that the vessel’s gravity weight, even when fully flooded, is not enough to send it to the bottom. Despite the Coast Guard expanding the search by 1,200 square miles that night, including requesting all private vessels as far as Bimini to be on the lookout (50 miles distant) no trace was found. Again they expanded it to the Gulf Stream northward in case, by some remote chance, the cabin cruiser had been pulled out by a brief squall that had hit that night (although it did not hit in Miami Harbor or Biscayne Bay).

Finally on December 28 the search was halted after covering 24,500 square miles without a single clue having been found. We must assume then that the “Witchcraft” was lost so unexpectedly as to even preclude Burack from firing the flare gun, for none was seen, and so completely as to eradicate any sign. Had that light squall drawn him suddenly to sea, he could still fire the flares and radio RCC Miami. Nothing indicates that the “Witchcraft” sank. Yet on the other hand it certainly did not remain.

The Coast Guard reached the following nebulous conclusion “They are presumed missing, but not lost at sea”.

Now we must all ask ourselves what was that “submerged object they hit”, why no traces at all of the unsinkable cabin cruiser, why no flares, nothing!.

Myself I can only speculate that ‘something’ took them, and whatever took them, did not mean to bring them back ever.

Look at the following incident in the same general area of the Bermuda Triangle:

Great Isaacs Rock, Bimini, Bahamas / Date: August 4 1969

Time: unknown

Two of the lighthouse keepers Ivan Major and B. Mollings simply vanished from the location never to be seen again. A Miami based fisherman, Bruce Mounier, claims that shortly after their disappearance, he was in his small boat within sight of Great Isaacs Light when he saw what he believed to be two underwater UFOs (USOs) -large gray egg- shaped objects about sixty feet long moving through the water at a high rate of speed just below the surface.

Another strange disappearance and more unknown underwater objects.

We can only hope they are in good hands.
