The timber profiles are designed in such a way that the sliding door has a weather-strip top and bottom, as well as in the locking edge. When the handle is swung down the sliding door rises 6mm, lifting it off its weather seals, enableing the door to glide open. As the door is sitting on the track in the shut position it alleviates the wheels from having flat spots.
