F rom the E ditor Jackson Silvanik, Editor of Publications, Communications Specialist I f we know one thing at all, it’s that we’re all working through a period of uncertainty. You’re finding yourselves in new situations as coaches; we’re finding ourselves in a new situation as publishers and educators. You’re approaching matters from entirely new perspectives out of necessity. How do you maintain the culture of a program when nobody can be together? How do you continue to help your players grow and improve? How do you maintain continuity within your staff, and within the families that comprise your program, or club, or high school team? You’re trying to figure out how to meet people where they are. So are we. Starting with this little digital issue, we’re going to try and meet you where you are. This is a new format, but It’s also a return to form that some of you might recognize from several years ago when we launched Coaching Volleyball 2.0. This is a platform that allows us to try some new things – where we can provide you with content and resources outside of the printed-and-published format. We’re also learning as we go, and we want to get your input. In this particular edition, we bring you some content designed to help address our current situation: what should you be thinking about for when your players can resume training? What are some practices that you can institute to maintain a routine in a non-traditional setting? Video is one of the only resources that coaches have, so how can you best view and analyze it? Moving forward, we’ll work to bring you content that will consider things beyond that – we’ll try to connect you with resources that the AVCA and our partners are bringing to the table, and we want to put you in touch with each other. If there are tools and practices that you’re using, drop me a note at [email protected] and let me know. This is a platform that is at it’s best when we’re all sharing. In the meantime, be sure to explore the resources at www.avca.org – there’s plenty of great convention recordings, upcoming webinars and blogs to help pass the time. We will work our way through this, but we also want to utilize the opportunity to find out what you want and need from us. Send me some feedback anytime – it’s how we’ll get better.
