Taking Responsibility
the weather, facilities,
quality and frequency of
matches, availability of
players and coaches, and
relationships with the
groundsman. Ultimately,
if the club’s focus is on
developing coaches
then, whilst we cannot
control the weather,
most of the rest can be
enhanced and improved.
As a result, the club will
have a stronger
relationship with its
members, players,
supporters and
community, and its
reputation will continue
to grow.
If we are really going to
have more and better
coaches available in our
clubs in the future, then
it is time for change. • Developing and
recognising expertise
in coaching children,
young people and
adults at clubs.
I see the emphasis for
the development of
coaches in 2018 as being
in the following areas: These are all attainable,
practical points of
development which,
working together as a
body of coaches, we can
make strides towards
this year. So make use of
tools like icoachcricket,
keep in contact with
other coaches and get in
touch with your CA with
questions, ideas and
requests. Together, we
can finish the year as
better coaches than
when we started it.
• A more diverse
coaching community
that is reflective of
society
• Fostering a culture of
learning
• Utilising the resources
and support available
