“And my social life was pretty much attending sports
events, and covering them,” she added.
Golder won a writing contest, which earned her a
guest appearance on the “Goon Show” with Keith
Conlin and Tim Sweeney.
She was so impressive that she propelled herself
into becoming a regular on the weekly live and on-
location broadcasts.
“The next week, they asked me to come back,” she
recalled. “I got to meet some great people who have
since helped me with my networking.”
The process now includes a weekly podcast with
ESPN’s Mark Rogers, called the “Mark and Maddy
Show” that requires a good two hours of preparation
for the one-hour Thursday show that could go in any
direction.
She has also raised her visibility and enhanced her
resume by serving as a presenter at the prestigious
Maxwell Club Awards, shadowing national NHL

She is also excited about co-hosting the Big Daddy
Golf Classic in June, which supports St. Jude’s
Children’s Research Hospital.
“I’m honored to be a part of such a prestigious charity
and to work with so many amazing people who want
to give back and help others,” said Golder, who also
carved out time to develop her sideline skills at high
school games for suburbanonesports.com, owned
and operated by Mary Jane Souder.
“She gave me an opportunity to cover high school
sports,” said Golder of Souder. “I was covering
football for her, and she allowed me to do my first
videos – shooting, editing and producing. She gave
me a platform to do it.”
And for every person who does her a good turn,
Golder looks to pay it forward.
“Every person has left a positive impression on me,”
