Annual Productions
The Grade 8-9 production is held at the end of
November and will alternate between a play and a
musical, opposite to the Grade 10-12 production.
Auditions are held in the fall and are open to all
students in Grade 8-9. Effort is made to include every
girl who is interested in some aspect of the production,
whether it be onstage in a role or off-stage in a
supporting position. Rehearsals are after school and
over two weekends closer to production time.
Productions will take place in the black box theatre.
The Grade 10-12 production alternates between a
play and a musical. Auditions are held in the fall and
are open to students in Grade 10-12. Effort is made to
include every girl who is interested in some aspect of

school and during weekends. The performance is
typically two weeks before Spring Break.
Music Ensembles
Choir, Band, and Orchestra
For choir, band, and orchestral opportunities, please
refer to the Academic Handbook, as these programs
are offered as curricular courses.
Students can participate in these ensembles as a club
as they meet out-of-timetable. The expectations for
attendance are the same as for students taking
ensembles for credit, but assignments and
assessments are not required.
Stage Band
Stage Band is an opportunity for students to learn
about and perform contemporary music genres (pop,
jazz, blues, folk). Students must audition to join and
should be skilled in any band or orchestra instrument,
or in piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, or vocals. The
stage band performs at special school functions,
school assemblies and concerts.
VISTA One Act Play Festival
Every year CHS participates in this festival, typically
held at a nearby independent school. Students work
in small groups to self-direct and rehearse one act
plays. Two plays are selected to present at the festival.
Teacher-directed shows are also an option. This is
open to Grade 10-12 students.
House Plays
Every spring, students can participate in the CHS
House Play Festival. House Captains direct and
rehearse fun, high-energy mini-productions for all
interested students.
