Patricia Pojar-Durr Resident of the Month Patricia was born May 16, 1953, to Van & Velma Durr. Patricia had 9 siblings, and Patricia was the second youngest to Ronald, Christy, Wayne, Allen, Margie, Bobby, Juanita, Rosalene, and Timmy. Brothers Wayne and Timmy, and sister Christy passed away within the last few years. Patricia’s mother was a nurse. When Patricia was a teenager she was very fortunate to get to work under her moth- er. She learned many skills from her throughout the years and they shared a lot of good times together. Patricia went to school in Willard, Mo., and had a career working for St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo., working in the bio medical laboratory doing EEG and EKG tracings. She worked in all intensive care units. One of the highlights in her life was the birth of her two wonderful sons, Curtis and Chris. Curtis unfortunately passed away a few months ago. The other highlight of her life is serving the Lord in such simplicity and sweetness. Patricia has such a soft heart and cares deeply for all people and animals. “Driving down the road headed home from church I saw a German Shepard lying on the road that someone had hit,” said Patricia. “I immediately stopped my car to pull over to see if I could save the dog and remembered I had some anointing oil from Israel that someone had given me. When I pulled over, a preacher from her church stopped to help, and a little boy that lived close by also walked over. I knew that as badly hurt as the dog was I would need something to put it on to be able to carry it to get it help. The little boy said that he could run and get the board that he jumped his bike over to help so he did. I then asked the little boy to put the anointing oil on the dog and pray for the dog with her. The preacher, little boy, and myself then laid hands on the dog and prayed.” She thought it was so won- derful that the little boy wanted to help the dog and they had all come together to do so. “One night when I was headed home from a church meeting I noticed a cat in the road where I turned to go to my house,” said Patricia. “It was a beautiful cat and I was worried that it would get ran over, so when I got home I asked my son Chris if he would go back with me and help move the cat to the side of the road. He is always so good to help me out and agreed. When we got back, the cat was still there and I moved it off of the road to the ditch. I later found out that this was our neighbors little girl’s cat and the little girl had cried all night because her cat had ran away and she was worried something had hap- pened.” The next morning, thanks to Patricia, the little girl found her cat sitting safely on their porch. Patricia joined our family at CMHCF in Aug. 2018. She said her favorite thing about CMHCF is that the people are so loving and kind. Congratulations, Patricia, on being chosen as CMHCF’s November Resident of the Month.
