Kelly Blevins,
Resident of the Month
Kelly was born Sept. 9, 1974, in Kansas City, Kan.
to Walter and Marilyn Blevins. Kelly has three broth-
ers: Ronald, Jody, and Kevin, his twin brother. His
twin was born first, so his brother teased Kelly about
being the baby of the family. Kelly enjoyed doing a
lot of things when he was in school at East High in
Kansas City. He would go swimming, run track, and
play basketball, which is no surprise because he’s so
good at it. Kelly liked to play darts and he also liked
to play with his brother Ronald’s dog to. He and his
brothers would put a mattress outside he and his
brother Kevin’s window, then they would take turns
jumping out of the window and landing on the mat-
tress. “It was so fun no one ever got hurt while doing it,” he said. After he
graduated school, Kelly worked for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs help-
ing clean up the stadiums after the games. He said he got to see Joe Montana
once while he was working, but didn’t get to talk to him. Kelly enjoyed all
the fun things about KC like going to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun.
His mother, Marilyn, was a nurse both in Kansas City and Springfield,
Mo. One year, he got to go up to her work at Halloween and get treats while
she worked. He and his mom would go to haunted houses in KC. Kelly said
that he remembered one old mansion that was turned into a haunted house
that was very scary and cool. Kelly and his mother used to do a lot of things
together. They traveled to Kentucky where he got to go to the Kentucky Der-
by, and she taught him how to sew. He said he even made her a necklace one
year.
Kelly joined the CMHCF family in June 2017. He said he likes everything
about being here, everyone’s so nice to him. He enjoys most of the activities
here — especially bingo — the cheeseburgers, and cherry streusels. Congrat-
ulations to Kelly Blevins, for being resident of the month.
