Billy Hutton
Resident of the Month
Billy was born on July 23, 1926, to Harry and Suzie
Hutton, just outside of Weaubleau, Mo. Billy grew up with
two brothers and two sisters. He started attending school at
Boone, a small, one-room schoolhouse, and eventually went
on to graduate from Weaubleau High School.
“When I was 14 or 15, my older brother and I driving in
a 1929 Model A car, showing off to some girls,” Billy recalls with a grin. “We were racing down Highway 54, when
suddenly the car flipped over. Remaining calm, my brother
and I got out of the car and flipped it back over. We jumped
inside and drove off, acting like nothing had happened.”

After that incident, that car became Billy’s.
In 1945, Billy married long-time friend, Beulah Nadine. Over the years, the couple
have been blessed with two wonderful children: Oliver and Charlotte; a grandson,
Neal; and a great-grandson, Aidan. Billy fondly remembers the family dog, Pluto.
According to Billy, there were time when Charlotte, his daughter, would wonder too
close to the road. Pluto, who was a collie, would race out to her and pull her back to
safety.
Billy is a World War II Veteran. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he would
transport jeeps, trucks and other military vehicles. After he finished her term of service,
Billy took his passion of driving and made it a career. For many years, Billy drove a
milk truck for a company in El Dorado Springs. He also drove school bus for more
than 21 years. Billy fondly remembers when he would have to work on the bus, after it
had broken down, and his kids would working right by his side. Billy also worked
various construction jobs and also served as the alderman.
Billy has been a part of the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility Family since
December 2014. He enjoys attending the men’s luncheons and enjoying all the ice
cream he can eat. Congratulations to Billy on being chosen as CMHCF’s Resident of
the Month for November.
