Nola Hegle , R e s i d e n t o f t h e M o n t h

Nola was born on Nov . 2 , 1930 , on a farm in Herington , Kan ., to Clarence and Dora Wendt . She has two brothers and one sister , with Nola being the oldest . She was the big sister so she would help them with school work . Nola always had pets as long as she could remember and still loves animals . Her favorite color is blue , which is a very good color for her because it brings out her blue eyes .
Nola met her husband , Weldon Hegle , while in school and after graduating they got married on Dec . 31 , 1950 . Nola smiles as she shares her story about how they were married on New Year ’ s Eve . The couple just celebrated their 67 th anniversary . When asked her if she had any hobbies , Nola laughs as says , “ trying to get after ‘ Hegle ’,” as she calls him .
The Hegles have three wonderful children , Steve , who passed away in 2008 , Gary , and Deborah . They also have seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren . Nola and Weldon lived in Kansas until 1962 when they moved to Missouri . They owned the Ben Franklin ’ s Store in town and when it closed they opened The Hegle ’ s Wood Works and Delivery business by the Bolivar square , running it for several years making all kinds of wood products from jewelry boxes and cedar chests to toy guns . They traveled all over showing their products from Gatlinburg , Tenn ., Florida , Las Vegas , Alaska , and Canada . Nola has been to Vegas 12 times .
Nola has been a part of the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility family since October 2015 . She enjoys getting her nails done , visiting with several of her friends here and meeting new friends .
Congratulations Nola on being chosen the Resident of the Month .
